LoL’s official mobile version
League of Legends: Wild Rift is a free strategy mobile video game wherein you compete in teams of five to defeat the other camp. Developed by Riot Games, this is the abridged version of the popular League of Legends game. Here, an all-new map is set for classic fast-paced 5v5 strategic matches. The gameplay is the same as LoL but new features were added in for the enjoyment of both old and new players.
Is League of Legends free?
League of Legends is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) esports video game developed and published by Riot Games. First released in 2009, the game lets you play the role of a Champion, a character with a unique ability. You must work together with other players and Champions in order to defeat the opposing team’s Nexus—the structure that each team must protect throughout the match.
Similar to other MOBAs, you can select from a huge cast of Champions, all unique in their character stories and skills on the battlefield. LoL became highly popular due to its overall game design, its cool Champion designs with good customization options, and its lively visuals. There are now over a dozen game modes available in the game—most of which are seasonal—and the game itself has seen its fair share of spin-offs.
From PC to mobile
League of Legends: Wild Rift isn’t exactly a spin-off since it’s pretty much the same but there are new features available to make it stand out. For one, the Wild Rift map is a new but familiar 5v5 map based on the original Summoner’s Rift—streamlined for faster games and perfect for mobile gaming. There’s even a responsive dual-stick control scheme on this version to help you have more accurate control over your movement and skill shots.
The familiar cast of 42 Champions in LoL returns here, and the game will slowly bring over other favorites over time. Their unique skins will be available for purchase, which you can enjoy with the all-new 3D model viewer. The Ranked ladder and team co-op with friends return, as well—although you can only unlock Ranked at level 10. Plus, there will be microtransactions but these won’t affect any gameplay stats or skills and will be merely for cosmetics.
Power Spike ‘23
One of the standout features of Patch 4.4: Power Spike '23 is the introduction of the Arena tournament-style game mode, a fan-favorite from the PC version of League of Legends. This addition promises to bring a fresh competitive edge to Wild Rift, captivating both veterans and newcomers alike.
The inclusion of three new champions—Sivir, Zyra, and Fiddlesticks—further diversifies the roster and introduces new strategies and dynamics to the game. Players can look forward to experimenting with these champions and mastering their unique abilities. As part of the anniversary celebration, Riot Games is also rolling out a host of special events and anniversary-themed content, including skins and rewards.
Conquer the rift
Overall, League of Legends: Wild Rift is the mobile game for any LoL fans who are getting tired of other MOBAs. It retains some of the beloved features while introducing new ones, and focuses more on faster matches. While it doesn’t have a lot of varied game modes to choose from, it still has the same great gameplay mechanics that made LoL a hit game.
